We are pleased to introduce our new General Manager – Debbie Doucette

Born into a military family, I spent my youth moving from province to province in this great country, and one posting overseas. It was this upbringing that helped form the person I am today.   I am a lifelong learner, avid traveller and love taking on new challenges.   After a varied career as a law clerk and then a Human Resources Manager, I found myself working with the elderly population.  I have never looked back and know that I was meant to be working with seniors.  The joy that I receive when a residents laughs with me or a family member says to me “I haven’t seen my mom/dad look so happy” is so rewarding.   Near the end of my father’s military career, he repeatedly asked for a posting to Comox with a view of retiring there.  I am excited to be living his dream and wish he was here to visit!  My mother will be coming to visit as will my children and friends, when life permits, and I look forward to exploring the area with them.  My children are outdoor enthusiasts and I am told there is a plethora of activities to enjoy.  Who knows, I might even attempt skiing again!

Message from Dr. Henry

As we head into this holiday season please help us stay safe and healthy throughout the season by following Dr. Bonnie Henry and the Minister of Health’s latest message around gatherings and how this applies to you and your loved ones.

Social gatherings

No social gatherings of any size at your residence with anyone other than your household or core bubble. For example:

Core bubble

For most people, their core bubble is their immediate household. An immediate household is a group of people who live in the same dwelling. For example:

For others, including people who live alone, their core bubble may also contain a partner, relative, friend or co-parent who lives in a different household. This should be a maximum of two people outside of those living in your immediate household.

Please email msorensen@retirementconcepts.com to set up an indoor social visit, as the designated visitor. I will be away from the office from Dec 22, so let me know if you would like to book any visits around Christmas.

There continues to be no signs or symptoms of COVID-19 in any of our residents/tenants or staff at Casa Loma and Comox Valley Seniors Village and for that we are very grateful. Should the status of our community change in any respect, please know that we will immediately contact families.

We wish you all a happy holiday season, and thank you for your kindness and support during the past 9 months.

Sincerely,

The Team at Comox Valley Seniors Village and Casa Loma
