Auburn and Waverly Family and Friends, can you believe it is almost the end of May already!

First of all, we would all like to thank you for helping us with safety and protocol during these new and trying times.

We are still relieved to tell you that there are no cases of reported outbreak nor signs nor symptoms of COVID-19 in any of our residents or staff here at Waverly Seniors’ Village or Auburn Retirement Residences.

We continue to follow the direction of our provincial Health Officer, Bonnie Henry, and our no visitor policy remains in place. We understand your eagerness to come and visit your loved ones, but at this time our no visitor policy remains the same, and we are taking extra care at the doors because of the increased exposure outside. Thank you again for your understanding of our work to keep your loved ones safe.

We continue to follow the direction of our public health officials to the letter and have full infection prevention and control precautions in place. Staff continue to monitor residents closely and are ensuring the following protocols are being adhered to.

Communication

Due to social distancing orders we are encouraging family members and loved ones to connect with your family member via telephone call, or FACETIME or SKYPE.

To inquire about facetime/skype or phone calls, please contact Heather at 604-799-1303 or email hbrougham@retirementconcepts.com

Recreation

The Recreation staff are hard at work keeping all residents busy with activities. We have a “Suite Treat” that is going out to each resident containing puzzles and activities along with an ice cream treat to enjoy.

Our gardens are growing more beautiful every day! Everyone is very proud of their work and we will be having a “show and tell” day coming up for all to share what they are doing in their gardens.

As Father’s day approaches we are also working on a “Gone Fishing” week to create crafts and have activities for the Dad’s around us.

We are all very happy that social activities are becoming more available, and it is important to encourage your family and friends here to participate AND that it is equally important that the stringent parameters must be followed to ensure each tenant and staff member is safe.

Our recreation staff are continuing to have social interactions on a one to one basis with residents. This includes a variety of crafts, word games and memory puzzles, facetime and skype calls with loved ones.

If the residents wish to participate in exercise class we do require to sign up in advance and will be pre-screened prior to the class starting. Physical distancing and sanitization are in place during this program.

Meals

We are all looking forward to being able to open the dining rooms and we are working on plans to help facilitate that as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, the dining room is closed, and tray service is being delivered to each suite.

Deliveries

We are accepting deliveries at the door that are being delivered to the residents as soon as they are sanitized and deemed safe.

A big thank you to everyone for working so hard to keep us all safe and healthy, as well as for the kindness, understanding and support you share.

Stay Safe everyone,

Sincerely,

The Leadership Team
