To all Family Members:

As we enter Mother’s Day weekend, we want to wish ALL Mothers the very best of health and happiness.

As previously noted, with Mother’s Day approaching, we wish to remind families that flower bouquets are only accepted in a vase so that we are able to sanitize before delivering to the resident. Unfortunately, we cannot accept plants due to our inability to completely sanitize.

Status Update

Today, we are pleased to report that all residents who had tested positive for COVID, two weeks ago or more, have been removed from isolation, as per the direction of the Fraser Health Authority, Public Health Department. We will continue to monitor these residents very closely, as we will all residents. Should any be symptomatic, they are swabbed, and placed in isolation as a precaution until lab results are known – as a matter of course.

The number of affected staff remains at three, each of whom remain home and in self-isolation. We continue to screen our staff at the beginning and midway through their shifts.

Communication

Communication with all families continues via e-mail. Phone calls to family members will occur only if any residents are placed on precautions. Please refer to our daily updates on the Retirement Concepts Website.

If you have questions related to a specific resident, please address those matters to: info@retirementconcepts.com. As you might expect, staff are extremely busy, but we will respond as quickly as possible.

Lockdown at Dufferin Care Centre

The community remains on mandatory lockdown as per the Order of the Medical Health Officer.

We are following Dr. Bonnie Henry’s order to stop sharing staff between facilities.

Staffing

Our staffing has not changed in the past few days. We continue to be short in our Dietary and Recreation departments.

We continue to receive our prepared food from Lazy Gourmet catering company, but plan on re-opening our kitchen on May 12.

Supplies

We are receiving an adequate amount of PPE supplies both from Corporate and Fraser Health Authority.

Teamwork

Our dedicated staff are working very hard to ensure the needs of the residents are met. We have been blessed with the absolutely wonderful team working at DCC.
