To all Family Members:

We are saddened to report today that a fourth resident who earlier tested positive for COVID-19 has passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

Status Update

Today, there are seven affected residents, all of whom are in isolation on the first floor. We continue to closely monitor residents, and should anyone be symptomatic, they are swabbed, placed in isolation as a precaution until lab results are known, and families are informed.

We have also been notified that another previously affected staff member has been cleared to return to work. The remaining four affected staff members remain home, in self-isolation. Please know that any staff member who is symptomatic is asked to place themselves in self-isolation as a matter of course.

Communication

Communication with all families continues via e-mail. Daily phone calls to family members of the impacted residents continue. Please refer to our daily updates on the Retirement Concepts Website.

We remain in daily communication with Fraser Health Authority representatives.

If you have questions related to a specific resident, please address those matters to: info@retirementconcepts.com. As you might expect, staff are extremely busy but we will respond as quickly as possible.

Lockdown at Dufferin Care Centre

The community remains on mandatory lockdown as per the Order of the Medical Health Officer.

We are following Dr. Bonnie Henry’s order to stop sharing staff between facilities.

Staffing

Today we are fully staffed in the Laundry, CARE and Housekeeping departments but remain short staff in Dietary and Recreation departments. We continue to receive our prepared food from Lazy Gourmet catering company.

Supplies

We continue to monitor our supplies closely. We have received emergency supplies through our Corporate Procurement as well as Fraser Health.

Teamwork

We continue to express thanks to staff as well as family members for their ongoing cooperation during a difficult period.
