To all Family Members:

Today is the first day of May and for many, a reminder signal Mother’s Day will soon be upon us. We know that this will not be a typical Mother’s Day and appreciate this is a difficult situation, but we thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation.

As a reminder to those who may be considering flower bouquets for residents, please ensure they are delivered in a vase and we can sanitize before delivering to the resident. Unfortunately, we cannot accept plants due to our inability to completely sanitize.

Status Update

Today there is no change in the status of residents or staff. Our eight affected residents remain in isolation on the first floor while five affected staff remain home in self-isolation.

Today there continues to be no changes in the number of affected residents. We remain at 8 affected residents. Our 5 affected staff members continue to be at home in isolation.

Communication

Communication with all families continues via e-mail. Daily phone calls to family members of the impacted residents continue. Please refer to our daily updates on the Retirement Concepts Website.

If you have questions related to a specific resident, please address those matters to: info@retirementconcepts.com. As you might expect, staff are extremely busy, but we will respond as quickly as possible.

We remain in daily communication with Fraser Health Authority representatives. Their support, advice and direction is truly appreciated.

Lockdown at Dufferin Care Centre

The community remains on mandatory lockdown as per the Order of the Medical Health Officer.

We are following Dr. Bonnie Henry’s order to stop sharing staff between facilities.

Staffing

Today we are fully staffed in the Laundry, CARE and Housekeeping departments but remain short staff in Dietary and Recreation departments. We continue to receive our prepared food from Lazy Gourmet catering company but look forward to re-opening our kitchen soon.

Supplies

We continue to monitor our supplies closely. We have received emergency supplies through our Corporate Procurement as well as Fraser Health.

Teamwork

Today, we would like to salute all front-line care providers and staff – including our very own – who are supporting seniors and other vulnerable people during this difficult period.
