To all Family Members:

As we work together to support the needs of Dufferin residents, please note if you have questions related to a specific resident, please address those matters to: info@retirementconcepts.com.  Staff are extremely busy, but we will respond as quickly as possible.

Status Update

All residents have been swabbed by a team of FHA professionals. Approximately 80% of results have been received, and the number of COVID-positive residents has increased by two, and now totals eleven, all of whom are in isolation on the first floor.

The number of affected staff has increased by one and now totals six, each of whom remain in self-isolation at home.

We continue to monitor our residents, and should anyone be symptomatic, they are swabbed, placed in isolation as a precaution until lab result are known, and families are informed.

We continue to screen our staff upon entrance into our building and midway through their shift.

Communication

Communication with all families continues via e-mail. Daily phone calls to family members of the impacted residents will continue.

If there are any changes in other residents,  families will be updated immediately. We also communicate with our affected staff three times per week.

We continue to be in frequent communication with Fraser Health Authority representatives. Their support, advice and direction is truly appreciated.

Please refer to our daily updates on the Retirement Concepts Website and Facebook Page.

Lockdown at Dufferin Care Centre

The community remains on mandatory lockdown as per the Order of the Medical Health Officer.

We are following Dr. Bonnie Henry’s order to stop sharing staff between facilities.

Staffing

Today we are fully staffed in the Laundry, CARE and Housekeeping departments but remain short staff in Dietary and recreation departments. FHA has deployed RCAs to fill in for our staffing shortages resulting in a full CARE staffing complement. They are working days, evenings and nights. Today is our fifteenth day of “outsourced” meals from Guildford Seniors Village.

Supplies

We continue to monitor our supplies closely. We have received emergency supplies through our Corporate Procurement as well as Fraser Health.

Teamwork

Our staff continue to show tremendous dedication and commitment. We also wish to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Guildford Seniors Village and to our Pandemic Response Team for supporting us during this challenging time.
