To all Family Members:

Dufferin Care Centre safe wish to thank family members and other loved ones of residents who continue to demonstrate their cooperation and understanding during this difficult period.

Over the last several days, we have received a number of requests – either directly or on our Facebook Page – from loved ones and family members that are related to a specific resident. Please know that we cannot release private information to those who are not listed in our files as a direct contact. As a result, we would advise you have the main family contact pose such questions on your behalf.

Status Update

The number of residents who have tested positive now totals nine, as a result of one additional positive result – all of whom are in isolation on the first floor.

Please note: a professional team are now in the process of swabbing(testing) all residents at DCC. We will communicate results once they are provided to us.

We continue to monitor our residents and should anyone be symptomatic, they are swabbed. They are placed in isolation as a precaution until lab result are known, and families are informed.

The number of positive staff remains at seven, all of whom are home and in self-isolation. We continue to screen our staff upon entrance into our building and midway through their shift.

 Communication

Communication with all families continues via e-mail. Daily phone calls to family members of the eight directly impacted residents will continue. If there are any changes in other residents, families will be updated immediately. We also communicate with our affected staff three times per week.

Please refer to our daily updates on the Retirement Concepts Website and Facebook Page.

We continue to be in regular communication with Fraser Health Authority representatives.

 Lockdown at Dufferin Care Centre

The community remains on mandatory lockdown as per the Order of the Medical Health Officer.

We are following Dr. Bonnie Henry’s order to stop sharing staff between facilities.

 Staffing

Today we are fully staffed in the Laundry but short staffed in Dietary, Housekeeping and Recreation departments. Today is our thirteenth day of “outsourced” meals from Guildford Seniors Village.

 Supplies

We continue to monitor our supplies closely. We have received emergency supplies through our Corporate Procurement as well as Fraser Health.

 Teamwork

Our staff continue to show tremendous dedication and commitment. The staff at Guildford Seniors Village and our Pandemic Response Team have also been a big support during this challenging time.
