To all Family Members:

As we move through another weekend, we know this situation is difficult for family members and loved ones, and we thank you for your ongoing patience, understanding and cooperation.

Status Update

The total number of positive residents continues to stand at eight, all of whom remain in isolation on the first floor. We continue to monitor our residents and should anyone be symptomatic, they are swabbed, placed in isolation as a precaution until lab result are known, and families are informed.

Unfortunately, our affected staff numbers have increased by one, bringing us to five, all of whom remain at home, in self-isolation. We continue to screen our staff upon entrance into our building and midway through their shift.

Communication

Communication with all families continues via e-mail. Daily phone calls to family members of the eight directly impacted residents will continue. If there are any changes in other residents,  families will be updated immediately. We also communicate with our affected staff three times per week.

Please refer to our daily updates on the Retirement Concepts Website and Facebook Page.

We continue to be in frequent communication with Fraser Health Authority representatives. Their support, advice and direction is truly appreciated.

Lockdown at Dufferin Care Centre

The community remains on mandatory lockdown as per the Order of the Medical Health Officer.

We are following Dr. Bonnie Henry’s order to stop sharing staff between facilities.

 Staffing

Today we are fully staffed in the Laundry. We thank the FHA for deploying 2 Care Aides to DCC for the day and 2 Care Aides for the evening shift. We remain short staffed in Dietary, Housekeeping and Recreation departments. Today is our twelfth day of “outsourced” meals from Guildford Seniors Village.

Supplies

We continue to monitor our supplies closely. We have received emergency supplies through our Corporate Procurement as well as Fraser Health. We are wearing googles, masks and gloves while on the resident units and wearing gowns when entering rooms of the affected residents.

Teamwork

We want to continue to express our sincere thanks to the staff at Guildford Seniors Village and to our Pandemic Response Team for supporting us during this challenging time.

We are all in this together, so to staff for their diligent work and to families for your ongoing cooperation – THANK YOU!
