April 30-2021 Family Message Update
Happy Spring!!!
We sent out an email as soon as we knew we had our 2nd dose clinic for the Assisted Living residents. It is Friday, May 14th from 12:30-3:30. We are working with both our Case Managers to ensure we have additional CHWs on the day of the clinic for those that may need some assistance. For those essential visitors who were vaccinated with your family member on January 24th – please ensure you are here on that date. We will send out a separate email invite as well. We will be delivering a memo door to door this weekend so please keep that notice somewhere you will remember. We will also post it on all the bulletin boards too. For our Independent Living Residents please know that we are awaiting your 2nd dose clinic but following the 112 days from March 3 – the estimated clinic would be in July. As soon as we get that date we will again let you know.
Please understand that we are still asking everyone to book their visits through our dedicated email address. Please do not call the front desk or leave a message for Sharon or Sabrina. Please book your appointments prior to the day you plan to visit. All scheduled visits are in our spreadsheet that gets printed out each morning. Please also understand that although we try to accommodate all requests, and the email is monitored daily, it is difficult when an email is sent late in the day for a same day visit. Please be patient and use the dedicated email we have provided you with.
COVID GUIDELINES
Covid guidelines were extended and new restrictions were put in place this week from the Province. I have included links to both the travel restrictions and other restrictions below. It is so important to follow the directions to keep yourself and everyone else safe.

Essential Visitor Vaccination – we have had some questions as to a family member becoming essential and us as an operator trying to get you in for your vaccine faster. We have no control over this. Our General Manager Liam as well as myself have emailed all forms off to VIHA. It is then up to them to call you and make an appointment for your vaccine.
VISITATION GUIDELINES – BOOKING APPOINTMENTS:
New visitation guidelines:
Please book your visits through the dedicated email below.
Please also book ahead of time. Please do not just show up without an appointment

MONTHLY Hearing Aide Pickups:
Please drop your hearing aids off at the front desk with Sheryl by Thursday morning a.m. so NEXGEN can pick them up and return same day. Any questions – please see Sabrina
Reminders for your loved-one to Stay Safe: Again, the following four points are so critical to discuss with your loved ones. Please help us by reminding each resident daily of the following four items:
Protocols
Aside from the single site, we are following the direction of our public health officials and have full infection prevention and control precautions in place. Staff continue to monitor residents closely and are ensuring the following protocols are being adhered to:
Essential Visitors: Please know that if you are already essential you will continue to be at the request of your family member. The difference between an ESSENTIAL and SOCIAL designate is that IF we should go into Outbreak an Essential Visit would continue where a SOCIAL visit would stop immediately until we are in the clear
Please note that all visitors are required to wear a medical mask when coming to visit their loved one. Cloth masks are no longer acceptable. At this time, isolation gowns and gloves are NOT required. Our teams will be here to assist during your scheduled visit, should you have any questions. If you do not have a medical grade mask, one can be provided to you at the front desk when getting pre-screened.
You MUST have a scheduled visit. Please do not show up without a time and date or you may be turned away.

NO visitors will be permitted at The Wellesley if an active outbreak is in progress
(if you were scheduled, you will be informed).
Quadra Village Medical Centre – Dr. Behroozi has acquired some new residents and will continue to reach out to everyone individually who have expressed an interest in getting a new doctor. Right now he makes his rounds on Thursdays. Any inquiries please see Sharon in her office or by email sunsworth@wcshm.com or by cell 250-514-5114.
Assisted Living ROOFTOP: Our constructions teams and our maintenance manager Joe will be in and out of the building in the coming months. Please know they are following all protocol. We are hopeful that our amazing rooftop will be completed soon but for now, the 5th floor is not accessible. If you have any questions in regards to this please let us know.
MOVE OUT Protocols: Please reach out to Sharon should you have any questions about removal of furniture/movers and how we go about doing this to ensure the residents remain safe. We have been arranging one move out per day when needed and trying to assist families with what will work within their schedule. Please know that in both buildings, we do not want to interrupt their meal times, so move out times are 9-11 am, 1:30-4 pm. Please arrange with me so that we can alert the residents and put signs up. sunsworth@wcshm.com
Move Outs/Elevator in Main Building/AL Building: The 1st elevator is utilized for move outs, and is locked for move outs. There is a note placed on the elevator as well. For your convenience we have asked all move outs to happen during the hours of 9-11 am and 1:30-4 so as not to disturb during meal time. Please be respective of the movers as they are following all protocol to get in and out in a timely manner. For the Assisted Living Building, we want to ensure that we are not disrupting meal times, so the same times apply.
MASK WEARING
As per provincial guidelines, mask wearing in the common areas is not required by current residents. All staff and visitors will continue to wear a mask. If you can’t keep a socially distanced 6’ (as in an elevator) it would be advised to wear a mask. Please see below the guidelines:
Thank You, Team Wellesley
