Dear Family and friends of The Wellesley,

Two of our staff members working on our AL side, have been informed that an individual they were exposed to on march 21 st has tested positive for COVID-19. One employee last worked March 22nd and the other March 26th.  Both staff members have gone for testing and we will inform you of the results as soon as we have them in.

We are happy to inform you that currently no residents or any other staff are experiencing any symptoms.

We are in contact with the health authorities and they will provide specific guidance as they assess the needs.

Rest assured that we are well prepared for these situations. We have a dedicated company COVID-19 response team that has focused on protocols, drills and site action since the start of COVID. While we wait to hear from the health authority, we have begun to implement these protocols for your continued safety.

Protocols:

Staff will be cohorted to specific floors on Assisted living side and will not cross over to Independent living

Assisted living dining room will be closed and residents will receive tray service for all meals.

In person Visitation is cancelled – This includes anyone from our Independent living side

Recreational activities are cancelled

Heightened sanitization of all areas including deep cleaning

Contact tracing between any residents or other staff members

Communication

As is our protocol, we will provide families with a daily email update until the situation is resolved.  Should the condition of any specific resident change, their family will be notified immediately.

To inquire about facetime/skype or phone calls, please contact:

Sharon Unsworth at 250-514-5114 or sunsworth@wcshm.com

Deliveries

All deliveries will be received at the lobby entrance vestibule.  This includes medication deliveries from pharmacies, floral arrangements, gifts and mail.  All items will be sanitized and delivered directly to the residents’ suite.

Dropping items off

 We would ask that families please follow these guidelines to ensure loved ones will receive their deliveries in a timely manner:

  1. Please use plastic bags not reusable bags;
  2. Make sure to label all bags with the resident’s name and suite number;
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items; and
  4. If possible, please sanitize the items before dropping off.  We will re-sanitize as well to be safe

 We wish to thank families and loved ones in advance for their patience and cooperation.

Team Wellesley
