Weekly Family Update for Summerland Seniors Village
Thursday, October 29th/ 2020
Recreation is thinking well ahead to Remembrance Day and we want to make sure we honour all our Veterans. To do this I want to make sure our Veterans list is up to date. (REMINDER) If your loved one is a veteran please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and include a brief blurb about their role in the military. Our Remembrance Day service will look a little different this year since we cannot gather in groups, but we will mark the day in the best way possible. What the families have sent me, I have forwarded that information as well to the Summerland Review for their publication on our War Hero’s!
Fancy Lunch Bunch has been postponed for now due to the large increase in Covid numbers in our province. It is only on hold for now until the numbers decrease. With our Assisted Living Residents still being allowed into the community it was decided that for now this would be for the best.
In the meantime we continue to facilitate our visits and provide programming. Please remember to send an email to email@example.com if you are interested in scheduling a visit and be sure to provide the following details:
Once your scheduled visit has been confirmed, you will be contacted via email with the date and time of your visit.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE FOR YOUR VISIT
The General Store remains open with distancing restrictions (1 person at a time) and a good selection of treats and necessities.
Communal dining is back with our usual 2 sittings. It’s so nice to be able to get back to some level of normalcy.
All deliveries must come through the front entrance only and abide by guidelines set out in our previous communications. Once again, we remind folks not to leave deliveries on the carts provided after 4:30 PM.
Please continue to be vigilant when it comes to social habits by adhering to the precautions necessary to mitigate the spread of Covid-19: practice social distancing, keep your social bubbles to a minimum, and wear a mask when deemed necessary.
(Please Stay Safe Everyone)
It has now been suggested by our General Manager that all of our residents wear a mask when in the general area of socializing inside Summerland Seniors Village for the protection of everyone.
2020 Flu Shot Clinic October 21st
We had a great turnout for our flu Vaccine Clinic. It ran smoothly, and at least ¾ of our population received the vaccine.
2020 Provincial Election Voting at SSV
Barely half of B.C.’s registered voters cast a ballot in Saturday’s provincial election, according to preliminary estimates by Elections BC, making the rate of participation the lowest ever in records going back to 1928. Our seniors at SSV came in strong and those who could did in fact vote!
