Friday, July 10-2020– Beacon Hill Villa – Update

I wanted to give a shout-out to UVIC Engineering who has provided Beacon Hill Villa with face shields created using 3D Printers. We are very grateful for the support!

Thank you to all of those who have expressed interest or had questions about the change to the Visit guidelines in Long Term Care. We can provide the following update:

  1. We have received guidelines from the Ministry of Health to safely support visits
  2. We are working to complete a safety plan which must be approved before visits are permitted
  3. We are working very hard to ensure we can meet all expected standards for safety
  4. To minimize delays in starting visits once the plan is approved, we are asking families to register their interest as a designated visitor
  5. Please indicate if you would prefer email or hard copy mail of an information package and registration form

Take care and stay safe,

Beacon Hill Villa Team

Updates on Admissions and Transfers:

Admissions have resumed and are following Ministry of Health and Vancouver Island Health Authority guidelines and safety precautions

Covid Response Protocol

Any resident that shows symptoms will be tested for COVID-19 without delay and put in isolation as a precaution. If the resident is positive, they will be assessed for transfer to a dedicated COVID-19 unit for specialized treatment and to reduce risk of outbreak in the LTC home. Island Health Communicable Disease will guide.

Prevention Protocols

We are continuing to follow the direction of our public health officials and have infection prevention and control precautions in place.

Recreation Program

We are pleased to share that we are continuing to shift our recreation offerings according to updates with guidelines and recommendations:

– We have started small group programming following guidelines and direction

– Virtual volunteer visits continue — Including Lynne & Teddy the Dog

– Virtual music therapy continues —bi-weekly sessions on Tuesday mornings and Friday afternoons.

We appreciate your understanding as the resumption of small group activities may impact our ability to facilitate video calls and virtual visits as frequently.

Dropping items off: Please coordinate all item drop-offs with the Recreation Manager, Kassandra kkeszthelyi@retirementconcepts.com. Please consider using Canada Post where precautions have been put in place
