December 21-2020 Family Message Update

Thank you to all the staff and residents who have been adhering to the province’s orders that are in effect until midnight January 8th. The week of December 21st looks a bit different so please check the calendar that are posted throughout the building and in the elevators. Thank you to Connie and her team as well as the Recreation team. Last week we went door to door to celebrate December babies! We will have all birthday pictures available, and Sharon is working on the list to send out to all family members as well.

As the holiday season approaches, please ensure you are following all guidelines for visiting. We want to keep our bubbles small and continue to stay safe. We have included some additional information for you to look over, most importantly the use of masks in public areas. You will notice all staff and visitors must wear masks. It is not mandatory for our residents to do so, unless you are in a situation (like the elevator) where 6’ distance can’t be met. We understand that you may have concerns, so please read the attached.

Am I required to wear a mask inside my Assisted Living building?

Assisted Living buildings are not considered public spaces and therefore residents are not required to wear a mask, but can do so if that is their personal preference. Visitors and staff are required to wear a mask. Residents may be asked to wear a mask under certain circumstances for safety.

Assisted Living/Rooftop: You will notice construction people around our building. Joe is working with the team to ensure everyone stays safe. Please be patient knowing that we are doing everything we can to move forward with this project with all protocols in place

Activities: Please know that the recreation team is following all provincial guidelines to ensure your safety.

Move Outs/Elevator in Main Building: The 1st elevator is utilized for move outs, and is locked for move outs. There is a note placed on the elevator as well. For your convenience we have asked all move outs to happen during the hours of 9-11 am and 1:30-4 so as not to disturb during meal time. Please be respective of the movers as they are following all protocol to get in and out in a timely manner.

NEW ORDERS: EXTENDED UNTIL JANUARY 8TH AT MIDNIGHT:

PHO order on province-wide restrictions

By order and direction of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), all events and social gatherings are suspended to significantly reduce COVID-19 transmission related to social interactions and travel.

The order is in effect from November 19, 2020 at midnight to January 8, 2021 at midnight.

We encourage everyone to please read through Dr. Bonnie Henry’s new PHO orders that have been extended until midnight on January 8th. What does that mean for us? Keep our bubbles small – and this means we strongly discourage ‘group’ outings in order to keep our staff and residents safe. IF you have a schedule visit – please ensure you are wearing a mask and keeping a 6’ social distance between you and your loved one. If family members show up without an appointment and/or just show up – please know we may ask you to leave if you are not following the orders.

Essential Visitors: These have all been contacted and updated in our system. ALL visitors have been approved to be on our property for the health and welfare of our residents. If you have any questions please ask Sharon

Designate Visitors: You MUST have a scheduled visit. Please do not just show up without a time and date or you may be turned away. No food or beverages during the visit and please ensure you socially distance 6’. Our visitation area is available and the hours are below along with the email you must use in order to book your visit. Please do not call the front desk as we are trying to ensure everyone can get a visit and would like everyone wanting to book HOLIDAY visits to email below ONLY:

MOVE OUT Protocols:

Please reach out to Sharon should you have any questions about removal of furniture/movers and how we go about doing this to ensure the residents remain safe. Please know that in both buildings, we do not want to interrupt their meal times, so move out times are 9-11 am, 1:30-4 pm. Please arrange with me so that we can alert the residents and put signs up. sunsworth@wcshm.com
