Kamloops Seniors Village – 2nd Floor Complex Care Exposure Event

 February 20, 2022

As of Friday, February 18, 2022, an exposure event is in place at Kamloops Seniors Village. We do have residents who have been confirmed to have COVID-19.

Due to this we have closed ALL visitations to only our 2nd Floor Long Term/Complex Care Birch and Cedar Groves– formerly 2B & 2C Neighbourhoods including Essential Visitors until the Medical Health Officer provides further direction.   At this time all our residents remain in good spirits and isolating with mild symptoms.

We are working closely with the Interior Health Authority (IHA) and Public Health. Exposure events last 10 days from the last positive COVID-19 case, with 4 days of follow ups from IHA.

We recognize this news will create concern and anxiety for residents, family members and other loved ones. Please know that the care and safety of residents is our number one priority and we are treating the situation very seriously.

Communication

As a result of these COVID-19 cases, we will be providing families with email updates 3x per week, unless the situation changes. Due to the holiday weekend, our next update will be on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Should the condition of any resident change, their family will be personally notified immediately.

Protocols

BC’s Medical Health Officer has been notified, and Kamloops Seniors Village is following our existing protocols established by Interior Health, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer and the BC Center for Disease Control.

At present, all the following existing actions to mitigate contagion and infection control are in place:

We will continue to act upon the latest advice of BC’s Health Ministry and will adapt our operations as necessary and recommended.
