April 29, 2022

Dear Families and Residents of Kamloops Seniors Village,

Please be advised that Interior Health & the Medical Health Officer (MHO) has put our Complex Care Birch & Cedar Grove (2B & 2C) neighbourhoods on a Gastrointestinal Outbreak as of April 26, 2022.

Symptomatic residents have been isolated to their rooms and thankfully symptoms are resolving quickly. We still only have 1 current symptomatic resident.

Per Interior Health, social visitation may remain open as long as visitors are aware of the risks with proper PPE (masks) worn and hand hygiene is performed prior to entry and upon leaving the neighbourhood.

If your loved one has symptoms, you will be contacted directly.

MASK UPDATES

With the changes in IHA COVID parameters as well as a community assessment, we are moving forward with visitor masks being allowed to be removed when in the resident or tenants’ private room as of Sunday, May 1, 2022.

Visitors still must wear their masks throughout the building, moving to and from the resident/tenant suite and there are still no visitations to happen in common spaces at this time.

Understanding the risks involved to your loved one if you chose to remove your mask is very important.  Here are some things to think about:

VACCINE BOOSTER CLINICS

On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, we welcomed our pharmacy CareRx to assist in executing our 4th Dose COVID-19 vaccine clinic for both Long Term Care residents and Independent & Assisted Living tenants. The day went very well and smoothly for all those involved.

Please reach out if you have any further questions.

As we end one month and start a new, the warmer weather is finally looking promising next week.

We hope everyone has a pleasant weekend as we look forward to celebrating Mother’s Day in a week’s time, as well as Cinco de Mayo and Star Wars Day ~ “May the 4th Be With You!”

Sincerely,

The Kamloops Team
