A Message From Director of Care

Remaining vigilant in infection control, and with flu season approaching, we have received vaccinations for residents & staff, and will host our Flu Vaccine Clinic October 29th. Nurses continue to reach out to family decision makers for consents. Family Decision Makers – please feel welcome to contact the Nurses at 604-582-0808 followed by extension: First Floor ext 150 / Second Floor 205, to share your consent as soon as possible. Thank you! Keeping healthy is our top priority.

Protocols

Strict compliance measures to all protocols remain unchanged in Guildford Seniors Village, following the direction of our public health officials, including preventative & enhanced infection control, monitoring residents’ & staffs’ health closely, and visitor designations.

Deliveries: kindly press the button at the speaker (to your left) to inform our team if you’ve delivered an item in the lobby vestibule. Please label your delivery with resident name, and we will ensure sanitizing and delivery to loved one. For resident safety, kindly refrain from passing items via windows as we must sanitize all. Thank you.

Family Council Returns Virtually!

Interested in attending a Family Council Meeting? A Family Council provides families and friends of residents with a way to support one another as caregivers. It’s a place to gather, share information, while being involved in helping to improve quality of life of the residents living within Guildford Seniors Village

Our Pledge to Residents & Community

This year, our Team gathered to sign a pledge in Caring and Care. Thank you Arlene, Recreation Team, for creation of pledge and the stunning mini paper flowers. There are certainly all kinds of ‘patience’- and Arlene’s paper flowers are a good example! We strive in collaboration to create a community that ensures that residents are most comfortable and happy.

Accessible Voting Options and Elections BC Information Session

Dear Voter,

Are you ready for BC’s provincial election on Saturday, October 24, 2020? In addition to voting in person, you also have alternative voting options. Voting by mail is available to all voters, while other options are only extended to voters with health conditions and voters with disabilities.

Elections BC has implemented the following measures to increase the accessibility of voting:

Voting by mail: All voters can request Elections BC for a vote-by-mail package before Saturday, October 17. You can request a vote-by-mail package online from this online request page, or by calling Elections BC at 1-800-661-8683. For more information, please visit the vote-by-mail information page.
Voting by telephone: Voters with vision loss, or those with an underlying health condition can submit their vote over the phone by calling 1-800-661-8683. Measures have been put in place to ensure the secrecy of the ballot for voters voting by telephone. Before you call, please make sure that your voter registration is up-to-date. You will need to provide your name, address, date of birth and your BC ID card number. You will also need to provide either the last six digits of your Social Insurance Number, OR the last six digits of your Personal Health Number.
Voting in advance: All voters can vote in advance through the days of Thursday, October 15 to Wednesday, October 21 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Some advance voting places may not be open on every advance voting day. Advance voting places and the dates they are open are currently being confirmed. For more information on where to vote, please visit the Where to Vote page.
Voting with accessible resources: If you are a voter with vision loss and choose to vote in person, Elections BC offers braille candidate lists, large print ballot posters and plastic ballot templates at their polling stations. Requesting assistance or having a family member or friend to help cast a vote is still available, however the protocols may differ due to COVID-19 pandemic. Please check the Elections BC website prior to making your way to the polling station.

On Thursday, October 15, 2020, CNIB will be hosting a virtual information session on accessible voting options. A representative from Elections BC will be available to answer any questions you may have about the voting process.
