Dear Families of our Long term care residents.

Today only one of our residents on the third floor of our long term care building remains positive for COVID-19.

There are nine staff members currently COVID-19 positive. They will remain isolating at home until they are cleared by the health authorities to return to work.

We have a few remaining staff swabs that are pending and we will update you with those results when they become available.

We have had the exterior Christmas lights installed and are currently waiting on guidance from the Health Authority to determine how we can decorate inside while keeping everyone safe.

We are continually humbled by the amazing outpouring of compassion from our community

The patience, love, understanding and gratitude shown by our families is very much appreciated by our staff who are working tirelessly to keep everyone safe. Letters of encouragement are posted for the care team and spirits are strong.

These communications are also posted to our website each day after they are sent out to you. If you have other family or friends that want to be updated, please feel free to direct them to www.retirementconcepts.com

We understand that this information may seem repetitive, however we want to ensure we communicate daily and that our families have quick and easy access to this information should they need to contact us.

Please know that the care and safety of residents is our number one priority, and that we treat this situation very seriously.

Following the direction of the Medical Health Officer and Fraser Health, the residents will remain in their rooms until this outbreak is declared over. Recreation is concentrating on one to one visits which is very important and meaningful at this time. Music, reading and sharing meaningful moment’s keep the residents connected and let them know how much they are loved especially when family contact is limited. Remember to book your phone call, face time or skype by following the guidelines as stated below.

This year we were registered in the London Drugs “Adopt a Senior Program” We have just received an incredible amount of gifts including cozy blankets, fuzzy socks and chocolates along with hand written cards from the donors. With the help of our recreation department, we will distribute these wonderful presents this week. (All of course will be properly sanitized) Tuesday is the big day that all residents on the third will receive a wonderful gift bag. Wednesday all the residents on the second floor will get their treats.

Many thanks to the wonderful people of our community for their generosity!
