Guildford Seniors Village – Update 23 May 2020

We remain determined to ensure a healthy community due to team commitment to protocols to prevent COVID -19 from entering our community.  Although ‘Phase Two’ is unfolding in society, our protocols remain unchanged as per Fraser Health Authority. This is a testament to plenty of patience and collaborative efforts – all in advocacy of resident safety and community health as a whole.

We all wish each of you continued health excellence, and persistence in your own safety.

Protocols

With strict compliance to the direction and protocols of our public health officials, we remain seriously committed to full enhanced preventative & precaution infection control protocols.

We continue to monitor residents & staff closely and adhere to the following protocols:

• restricting ALL visitors from the premises excluding essential services (who are pre-screened and following as per below)

Staff are

• working strictly in one community, Guildford Seniors Village and within an assigned neighborhood floor

• pre-screened for their temperature & health indicators upon entrance to the building and midway through shift
• removing outside clothing and footwear, switching to inside apparel before entering building; and changing back into outside clothes at end of shift
• maintaining social distancing amongst each other and of residents, including during mealtimes
• appropriate application and removal of personal protective equipment (PPE),  use of individual resident slings (cloth component of a personal lift), disinfecting equipment between uses
• in order to break the chain of infection, ensuring ongoing enhanced environmental cleaning of high touch surfaces, and commitment to regular/proper hand hygiene by washing their & residents’ hands with soap and water and applying hand sanitizer
• ongoing education Huddles to adapt and ensure current compliances are met, questions answered and team confidence in enhanced care protocols

Dining Room

Service of home cooked meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner is successful within each four Neighborhood dining rooms, as well as snack trolley room service afternoon and evenings.

Recreation

One-to-One visits and connecting residents with loved one with social calls, Facetime and/or Skype visits continues; please contact 604-582-0808 ext. 203 or email recreation-gsv@retirementconcepts.com to place your request.

Feel welcome to arrange delivery of items that may bring your lovey joy. For instance, recent deliveries of Sudoku / Crossword Puzzle books, loving cards, and  a ‘therapeutic cat’ (stuffy that moves and meows)  brought great comfort and connection to resident.  Expressions of caring are extremely valued. Thank you.

Deliveries

Please feel welcome to drop off or delivery items for your loved one (cards, flowers in vase, specific supplies if requested by Care Team) in our lobby vestibule, however do press the speaker buzzer (to your left) to inform our team, as we will ensure sanitizing and delivery to loved one. Please no food items for residents. Thank you!

Did you know residents’ ages range from 51 to 101 years of age?

You may find it interesting to note that resident ‘average age’ is 84,  with 48.1% male and 51.9% female.
