The Wellesley

Welcome to The Wellesley! We are a vibrant and active retirement community centrally located in downtown Victoria, BC, near the Royal Jubilee Hospital. Our three-storey building offers large, bright suites in a variety of floor plans, including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom options. We also offer full kitchens, in-suite air conditioning and large windows with stunning views of the surrounding area.

There’s never a dull moment here at The Wellesley, and this community is absolutely full of life. We have an inner courtyard, two roof-top patios, a Zen garden and our lush, greenhouse-style garden lounge lobby. We also have a spacious activity area with a full stage, sound, and lighting for entertainment, performances, and lively events.

The Wellesley includes 40 publicly subsidized units and 24 private-pay units, serving both independent residents and those who require additional assistance. There’s also a 24-hour on-site guest suite available for visits by your friends or family. The Wellesley was built in 1987, and our Assisted Living facility was constructed in 2006.

Location

Our retirement home is centrally located, just five minutes from shopping centres, grocery stores, restaurants, banks, pharmacies, and more. Residents can enjoy all the city’s amenities without living right downtown.

Amenities

The Wellesley retirement community is proud to offer seniors a variety of amenities, including a movie theatre, hair salon, fitness room, and more. There’s also a large billiards table on the second floor that overlooks our garden lounge. We have a full-service dining room that serves a wide range of homemade meals and a selection of local wines and other beverages. Residents can also take advantage of our tranquil interior courtyard and two beautiful rooftop gardens. For those who are good with their hands, we also offer a one-of-a-kind woodworking shop with everything you need to fix, build and create.

Care

Our primary goal is to provide residents with a very high quality of life in a safe, home-like environment. Our dedicated staff helps residents maintain their independence while providing the personalized care and support they need as they age. Furthermore, our 24/7 emergency response system ensures residents have access to nursing assistance when needed. In addition to our Independent Living community, we offer a dedicated wing for those who require a little extra help with day-to-day needs.

Security

At The Wellesley, the safety and security of our residents are top priorities. For instance, all building entrances and exits are equipped with code or key access. We’ve also installed state-of-the-art security cameras in common areas, parking lots, and exits to protect residents from theft, vandalism, and unauthorized entry. Furthermore, our staff conduct nightly on-site security checks for added peace of mind.

Accessibility & Inclusivity

We pride ourselves on being fully accessible with elevators on each floor. Many suites feature walk-in showers with grab bars to ensure our residents’ safety. We welcome residents from all faiths and cultures. The Wellesley offers weekly non-denominational religious services as well as opportunities for people of specific denominations to gather.

Independent Living

We offer spacious studio, one-, and two-bedroom Independent Living suites that are well-suited for seniors who require little to no assistance with everyday tasks and want to forgo the responsibility of caring for a yard or property. Our Independent Living programs offer active seniors the opportunity to meet new friends and enjoy outings and activities designed to challenge, inspire and entertain. This allows seniors to enjoy a rich, vibrant and fulfilling life in a comfortable and safe environment.

Assisted living

The Wellesley offers Assisted Living suites for those who can care for themselves but need a little extra help with day-to-day tasks. We welcome residents who use a cane, walker, or wheelchair, provided they can reach a bed or chair without assistance. If needed, residents in Assisted Living receive assistance with medications, dressing and undressing, bathing or showering, and general hygiene, provided by a third-party supplier. The staff here at The Wellesley also provide housekeeping, laundry and meal services as needed. Our staff offers a balanced approach to care, supporting mental and physical well-being and overall safety.
