Assisted Living Suites

This is for residents who wish to maintain their independence, knowing assistance is available when they need it. Assisted Living residents need to be Self Directing, and they also need to be mobile (they may use walker and/or wheelchairs as long as they are able to transfer). This is ideal for couples as well as singles.

Our beautiful suites feature high ceilings, large picture windows and an open floor plan that creates a wonderful feeling of space. Warm rich colours add to the ambiance of this new home.

Michael Traquair

Michael Traquair

General Manager

Michael Traquair grew up locally in White Rock BC, and after completing high school, Michael attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology, and studied Professional Cooking, from which he graduated in 1990.  He then enrolled at Vancouver Community College to study in the Trade of Cooking and served his Apprenticeship at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Vancouver.

Michael then joined the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in 1997, and continued to study the culinary arts, hospitality management, leadership and team building.  One of Michaels career highlights came in 2002 when he was personally chosen to cook and serve for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness Prince Charles during their royal visit to Vancouver.

In 2003 Michael and his family relocated to the Fraser Valley and he began working at the Ramada Plaza and Conference Centre as Executive Chef and in 2007 was promoted to Hotel General Manager. Michael along with his wife Anita and their 2 children, Maverick and Hunter are actively involved in supporting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the fight to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

Michael is very excited to have this opportunity to join the Langley Seniors Village and is already enjoying getting to know many of the residents and their families.

Sharon Krastel

Sharon Krastel

Administrative Coordinator

Sharon is the newest member of the Langley Seniors Village team, assuming the Administrative Coordinator role in November 2009, bringing with her over seventeen years of administrative, human resources and bookkeeping experience from the forestry, telecommunications and investment industries. She is happy to now work in Healthcare and finds her work very rewarding. She is responsible for billing, accounts payable, payroll and customer service. Sharon is a valuable resource for the staff, residents and families due to her positive, friendly and efficient manner.

Janice Linnen

Janice Linnen

Marketing Coordinator

Janice joined Retirement Concepts in 2007 in a temporary capacity as the Administrative Coordinator at the Dufferin Care Centre and then fulfilling the same role at Langley Seniors Village in 2008 and 2009. Janice realized how much she thoroughly enjoyed meeting and talking with the many senior residents and their families that she met everyday. Janice spent many years as a small retail business owner with locations in the Lower Mainland of BC. She and her husband have raised two daughters that they are very proud of. Since becoming the Market Coordinator in 2010 she is dedicated to assisting seniors and their families with the transition to retirement living in our lovely facilities where seniors can maintain full and independent lives right in the comfort of their own home.

Katie McElroy

Katie McElroy

Recreation Coordinator

Katie grew up locally in Vancouver BC,  after completing high school and musical theatre studies, working with many high profile entertainers such as Bobby Vinton, Katie later traveled to Toronto to open Canada’s Wonderland and later teach jazz at the ‘Royal Winnipeg Ballet School where her first of 6 children was born.

In 1985 she moved back toVancouverand carried on in Musical Theatre while opening her own daycare.  In the early 90′s attended Kwantlen University College RN Program but later changed to Recreation. 

Katie’s first Recreation Coordinator’s positon was in 1998 where she worked at Highland Lodge for 6 years, also Activities at Crofton Manor, Kiwanis, Castlegar, Trail, the Pacifica, and recently 3 years at Evergreen Heights Assisted Living in White Rock where she acquired many skills that will be able to be implemented into her new position.

Katie along with her husband Michael and their 3 children, Landon, Riley and Brycen reside in White Rock.

Katie feels very privledged to have this opportunity to join the Langley Seniors Village and is already enjoying getting to know many of the staff, residents and their families.

Shawn Hansen

Shawn Hansen

Chef Manager

Shawn Hansen began working at Langley Seniors Village in 2007 as a part time Lead Cook and has now been awarded the new position of Chef/Food Service Manager.

His career began as a short order cook at 17 years old and then he moved onto The Old Bavaria Haus where he learned the craft of traditional German Cuisine.

The Diamond University Club at Simon Fraser University was his next stop where he gained his Red Seal working as a Banquet (First) Cook.

He later spent many hours working as a casual cook in the Lower Mainland’s many Retirement Homes.

The River Rock Casino was a milestone in his career where he was employed as a Chef de Partie and supervised a staff of up to twenty people for the Grand Opening as well as with working as a Chef at Boulevard Casino.

Shawn is now striving to produce fresh, wholesome meals by sourcing food and products from the local community vendors along with harvesting herbs and vegetables from the beautiful gardens at Langley Seniors Village.
