Located in Surrey, Guildford Seniors Village is a Residential Care Home that opened in 2001 and was developed according to Retirement Concept’s philosophy of providing residents with a home and a neighbourhood.
Guildford Seniors Village is designed around a central nursing care unit with four ‘neighbourhoods’, each with their own intimate dining areas. All of the rooms are private with large bay windows that open out to either the landscaped gardens or interior courtyard. Each room is decorated in soft, warm colours and furnished with quality, crafted furniture and includes a two piece ensuite. Residents may bring their own furniture as well, if they prefer to do so.
Residential Care (Skilled Nursing Care)
Residents are cared for by a highly trained, professional and caring staff, in a safe and secure environment. We accept residents requiring intermediate, extended, palliative, dementia and respite care. We have both funded and private pay facilities. Funded facilities must be applied for through Fraser Health.

- 24 hour nursing Care
- A special Alzheimer’s Care Unit for residents requiring a secure environment
- In-house hairdressing salon
- Planned activity programs under the guidance of the recreational therapist
- Emergency call bells in each room.

- Interior courtyards to enjoy year-round
- Outdoor walking paths around luscious and landscaped gardens
- Four spacious and luxurious bathing spas with heat-lamps, towel warmers and the ultimate soaking tubs or showers

Entertainment and Recreation
Our trained Recreation Therapist strives to foster quality of life, self determination and meaningful experiences for residents as well as to encourage resident participation in recreation program planning. We also respect our residents’ rights to dignity and privacy when they wish it.
Full social/activity program under the guidance of the Recreation Therapist includes:

Dining Services
- Four small intimate dining rooms with large picture windows
- Three nutritious meals and snacks prepared on site

Angelo Boholst
General Manager & Director of Care
Angelo is a registered nurse from the Philippines with 17 years of nursing experience.
Angelo joined Retirement Concepts in 2009 and worked as a General Manager/ Director of Care at Peace Portal Lodge. Prior to joining the company, he worked in various leadership roles in both acute and residential care settings.
He was also a clinical and classroom instructor for both Residential Care Aide and License Practical Nurse Program at different colleges.
His hope is to promote a safe, dignified living experience for all the residents at Guildford Seniors Village.
Zay Rahimbux
Administrative Coordinator
Zay joined Guildford Seniors Village in July of 2009. She has experience with Accounts and Management and extensive experience in Customer Service. A friendly smile and outgoing personality is how Zay gets to know the residents, their families, and the staff.
Zay is excited to be involved in this aspect of the health industry and enjoys chatting with the residents and their families. Her goals are to ensure that all the residents, their families and the staff are treated with respect, care, and courtesy, and that she does what she can to ensure the proper and friendly care of the residents is the best it can be and foremost in all that we do.
Joti Takhar
Marketing Coordinator
Joti joined the Retirement Concepts team in January of 2009. She graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology with a Marketing Diploma and then went on to complete her Bachelors of Business Administration Degree. Prior to working at Retirement Concepts, Joti worked in the High Tech Industry as an Account Manager.
Joti is enthusiastic about assisting seniors and their families and understands the importance of ensuring that Guildford Seniors Village is the perfect match for its potential residents based on their needs. She recognizes that this will be their new home.
Lesley Shaw-MacLaren
Manager, Therapeutic Recreation
Lesley joined the Therapeutic Recreation Team as a Recreation Programmer in 2006 and accepted the role of Manager of Therapeutic Recreation and Volunteers in September of 2011.
She graduated from Douglas Colleg ewith a diploma in Therapeutic Recreation in 2006 and is currently working part time to complete her degree in the same field with a concentration in mental health and physical rehabilitation. As a professional member of the British Columbia Therapeutic Recreation Association (BCTRA), Lesley is a passionate contributor to the advancement of the profession.
Lesley’s vision for the Recreation Department at GSV is to provide a balance of Therapeutic and Social Recreation based on assessed individual resident needs. Through these programs she strives to improve or maintain the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual wellbeing of the residents the department serves. Lesley is committed to providing a positive environment that fosters compassion and growth.
