Millrise Communications Update – April 21, 2020
As we work together to support the needs of Millrise residents, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to family and friends for your patience and understanding during this time.
Should you have any items you wish to drop off for a resident, please feel to do so, knowing we will fully sanitize.
Should you have questions related to a specific resident, please address those matters to: firstname.lastname@example.org. As you might expect, staff are extremely busy, but we will respond as quickly as possible.
Today, the number of residents who have tested positive, remains at seven – all of whom are in isolation and being closely monitored (five in Supported Living and two in Long Term Care).
Alberta Health Services continues to test all residents. We will communicate results as soon as they are provided to us.
We continue to monitor our residents, and should anyone be symptomatic, they are swabbed, placed in isolation as a precaution until lab results are known, and families are informed.
The number of COVID-positive staff remains at seven, all of whom are home and in self-isolation. We are in contact with each three times per week. We continue to screen our staff upon entrance into our building and midway through their shift.
Deep cleaning and sanitation of the entire community is continuing daily to ensure the health and safety of staff and residents.
Communication with all families continues via e-mail, while daily phone calls to family members of the directly impacted residents continue. If there are any changes in other residents, families will be updated immediately.
Please Note: as a result of the current workload involving staff, they are unable to facilitate Facetime or Skype conversations at this time.
We continue to be in daily communication with Alberta Health Services representatives as well as with our Site Medical Director. As previously noted, Alberta Health is publicly posting information on confirmed COVID-19 outbreaks in Alberta when there are two or more cases at a facility. Information will be posted at: Alberta.ca/covid19.
Lockdown at Millrise Seniors Village
The community remains on mandatory lockdown as per the Order of the Medical Health Officer. We are continuing to adhere to the order to stop sharing staff between facilities and we are diligently following all Alberta Health Services procedures.
We are experiencing some staffing shortages in all departments. Meal services continue to be outsourced.
We continue to monitor our supplies closely. We have received emergency supplies through our Corporate Procurement as well as Alberta Health Services.
We wish to thank staff for their dedication and commitment. A sincere thanks is also in order to our Pandemic Response Team for supporting us during this challenging time.
