We are saddened to confirm that a resident who earlier tested positive for COVID-19 has passed away.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
The number of COVID-positive residents totals 18, all of whom are in isolation and being closely monitored (six in Long Term Care and twelve in Supported Living). The impacted floors are the 3rd floor in both the SL and LT care units. Please note: an earlier version of the daily report reflected numbers that were inaccurately reported, and we apologize for any confusion this may have created.
All residents have been tested but staff are undertaking a re-swab of any resident who is displaying any symptoms – in which case, they are placed in isolation as a precaution until the test results come back – and families are informed.
We have increased the deep cleaning and sanitization of the entire community, with additional housekeeping staff in all areas of the building, and for enhanced cleaning in high touch areas.
Communication with all families continues via e-mail, and we have established additional resources to ensure daily calls with family members of the directly impacted patients. If there are any changes in other residents, families will be updated immediately.
Staff continue to receive an overwhelming number of phone calls, and their ability to accept and respond to those simply isn’t possible. We apologize but as we hope you can appreciate, this is a fluid situation and the full attention of staff should be – and needs to be – on tending to the care and safety of residents. We have provided EMERGENCY contact information to families should there be an URGENT need to contact us.
Please know, should any resident experience a change in their condition, the family will be contacted immediately. Also, please note that we will continue posting daily community updates that can be accessed on the Retirement Concepts Facebook page.
We recognize you are concerned an anxious, but please know we are doing everything possible to keep your loved one safe – and we appreciate your ongoing patience and cooperation during a difficult period.
The community continues to restrict ALL visitors from the premises, as per the Order of the Medical Health Officer. We are continuing to adhere to the order to stop sharing staff between facilities and we are diligently following all Alberta Health Services procedures.
We are experiencing some staffing shortages in all departments. With the dining room closed our meals are currently being delivered from outside catering, until the kitchen can be appropriately staffed.
We continue to monitor our supplies closely. We have received emergency supplies through our Corporate Procurement as well as Alberta Health Services.
