Millrise Communications Update – April 22, 2020

Staff would like to extent thanks for families and loved ones of residents for their ongoing patience and cooperation.

Status Update

Alberta Health Services continues to test all residents. Today, the number of residents who have tested positive, totals nine – all of whom are in isolation and being closely monitored (five in Supported Living and four in Long Term Care).

We continue to monitor our residents, and should anyone be symptomatic, they are swabbed, placed in isolation as a precaution until lab results are known, and families are informed.

The number of COVID-positive staff also totals seven, all of whom are home and in self-isolation. We are in contact with each three times per week. We continue to screen our staff upon entrance into our building and midway through their shift.

Deep cleaning and sanitation of the entire community is continuing daily to ensure the health and safety of staff and residents.


Communication with all families continues via e-mail, while daily phone calls to family members of the directly impacted residents continue. If there are any changes in other residents, families will be updated immediately.

Please Note: as a result of the current workload involving staff, they are unable to facilitate Facetime or Skype conversations at this time.

We continue to be in daily communication with Alberta Health Services representatives as well as with our Site Medical Director.


The community continues to restrict ALL visitors from the premises, as per the Order of the Medical Health Officer. We are continuing to adhere to the order to stop sharing staff between facilities and we are diligently following all Alberta Health Services procedures.


We are experiencing some staffing shortages in all departments. Meal services continue to be outsourced.


We continue to monitor our supplies closely. We have received emergency supplies through our Corporate Procurement as well as Alberta Health Services.
