WAVERLY SENIORS VILLAGE OFFICIAL OPENING

WAVERLY SENIORS VILLAGE “CAMPUS OF CARE’ for Seniors’ was officially opened in Chilliwack this fall. This beautiful 120-unit campus, which includes an existing 54-bed residential care facility and the new 66 assisted living units will allow seniors to ‘age in place’ a concept that is being embraced by seniors province wide.
Azim Jamal, CEO of Retirement Concepts, a family-owned business operating 11 seniors’ facilities in BC said the Waverly “represents the highest standards in seniors housing design” including 24-hour emergency call, daily meals tailored to dietary needs and various lounges and meeting areas that help make it a ‘hub of activity’ where seniors can continue to feel connected to the rest of the community.
Eighty-five year old Leonard Heth, one of the Waverly residents since January said that he and his wife have traveled the world and lived in a number of facilities in the past 17 years and now feels very fortunate to be in a place like this; where caring staff “comfortably houses me, feed me and caters to my idiosyncrasies”. It truly is a place to call home where friends and family will love to visit.

TWO NEW FACILITIES PLANNED
South Surrey and Langley are to be the sites of new seniors complexes being developed by Retirement Concepts. Construction on the Langley development will be started this Fall, and construction on the South Surrey development (Rosemary Seniors Village) will begin in Spring of 2006.
Both of these complexes will follow the concept already operating so successfully in other communities, encompassing an Assisted Living facility adjoining a Residential Care (24 hour nursing) facility. This model, coined a 'Campus of Care' allows seniors to 'age in place'. It also allows couples to be close to each other when one requires more care than the other.
As with most Retirement Concepts facilities, these will be public/private partnerships, where both government funded and private pay units will be available. Watch this space for more information.
