Regional Manager Interior Health Authority

STATUS: Full Time

POSSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director, Care Planning and Delivery the Regional Manager is responsible for delivering and implementing the RC Standard Service Model of care within their region. This is achieved by managing and overseeing a designated number of facilities within their regional portfolio.

The Regional Manager will direct and provide support to the facility General Managers/DOCs and the Residential Services teams within his/her portfolio to ensure that Retirement Concepts delivers consistent high-quality resident focused care. This includes performance monitoring, nurse education delivery, policy and procedure implementation, ensuring adherence to care service standards, and support in responding to licensing issues/reports. In addition, the Regional Manager will be involved in developing and implementing key company-wide initiatives aimed at maximizing care delivery performance across the organization and to creating and sustaining an environment of continuous quality improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary roles and responsibilities of the Regional Manager include:

A. Managing and overseeing General Managers in their designated portfolio:
• conduct annual performance reviews
• prepare, implement and monitor management development plans;
• work with General Managers to develop annual facility plans;
• participate in selection decisions for facility General Managers and Directors of Care;
• implement a mentorship program for new General Managers and Directors of Care.

B. Clinical Oversight and Quality Control
• audit management and site performance within their regional portfolio;
• implement regional quality initiatives;
• support company-wide system rollouts (E-MAR, CMS);
• ensure the completion and evaluation of the workload measurement tool for each site in the region;
• with the facility DOC/General Manager, ensure reporting of all Retirement Concepts and Health Authority Indicators; identify trends and issues and make recommendations for improvement

C. Change Management at the Regional and Site level
• plan and execute corporate changes that affect the region or the specific site. This may include change in contractor services, personnel, or processes.
• plan and execute Health Authority changes in processes or education that affects the region or a specific site.

D. Nurse Management Coaching and Contracted Care Service Provider Support
• communicate and assist in implementing RC care standards and policies for all contracted care providers including implementation of processes and procedures for collecting and reporting these standards on a regular basis.
• assist in developing and implementing orientation guidelines for nursing management including contracted services.
• provide educational support for the facilities within the region.

E. Licensing Support
• in coordination with the Director of Care Planning and Delivery and facility General Managers, actively liaise with Community Care Facilities Licensing as it relates to facility management matters;
• in coordination with the Director of Care Planning and Delivery and facility General Managers, actively liaise with Health Authority Residential Care.

F. Critical Incident Support
• support General Managers in their response to critical incidents: provide on site support, investigation, reporting, liaison with various authorities, follow up on initiatives with staff residents and families.

G. New Facility Opening Support
• deliver Clinical Orientation, education and training delivery ensuring implementation of company care standards and philosophy;
• implement clinical systems and policies and procedures at the site level and follow-up with facility General Managers to ensure that these are being actively and consistently followed;
• support hiring initiatives to ensure qualified; high quality care staff are engaged.

H. Nurse Management Vacancy Support
• backfill nursing vacancies at the Director of Care level during recruitment for permanent replacement or during extended absences.
• backfill General Manager vacancies during recruitment for permanent replacement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Required:
• Recognized education in areas of health administration, gerontology, and/or operational management;
• BSN. A current member in good standing of the CRNBC;
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience with demonstrated leadership in operations management and adult training and education experience within a health care setting;
• Ability to communicate effectively; and
• Good interpersonal skills and an ability to manage multiple critical timelines.

B. Desired:
• Experience as a General Manager/Administrator at a long term care facility, preferably a campus of care.
• Experience in opening a new long term care facility, preferably a campus of care.
• Private sector experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Periodic travel to facilities within assigned portfolio.
• Periodic extended stays near facility site locations.
• Valid BC Driving License
