Renfrew Care Centre
All 88 beds at Renfrew Care Centre in Vancouver's East Side are funded through the Continuing Care department of the Vancouver/Richmond Health Board. The multi-level care model allows residents to form closer relationships with each other, as residents are grouped according to care level and dine and socialize in more intimate spaces with a core group of peers.
Residential Care Amenities
- 24-hour professional nursing care
- Scheduling of medical appointments
- Special care unit for residents with cognitive impairments
- Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, podiatry and dental care services available on an 'as needed' basis
- Housekeeping and laundry services
- Spacious, bright rooms with low level windows to allow residents to view their surroundings
- Common areas and TV lounges
- Rooftop patio, courtyards and underground parking
Residential Care Entertainment and Recreation
Our programs are enhanced by the involvement of our volunteers who are very much a part of our team at Renfrew.
Throughout the year we provide opportunities for the staff in all departments to be involved with the activities for our residents through special events.

Residential Care Dining
- Three meals and two snacks daily
- All meals cooked on site, dietician planned with cultural and religious requirements taken into consideration
- Family and friends are encouraged to dine with residents
- Bright, attractive, well lit main dining area
- Smaller, more intimate dining areas for residents requiring help with meals

Staff
Loraine Coffin
Administrator
Loraine is a Registered Nurse - a graduate of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital of Montreal. She has a Bachelor of Nursing from McGill University and has a post graduate certificate in Long Term Care Management from the Canadian Health Association. Loraine brings many years of experience in health administration and education to her work at the Renfrew Care Centre. She enjoys the challenges of Long Term Care and believes that Renfrew has been very fortunate with its long term staff and good reputation in the community. Loraine is also a surveyor with the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation and has surveyed long term care facilities across Canada for the past ten years.

Fran Pelletier
Clinical Team Leader
Fran Graduated from Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. After working in acute care nursing, rehabilitation and discharge planning, she found an interest in long term care nursing. Fran received her certificate in gerontology nursing from Vancouver Community College.
Fran has been at Renfrew Care Centre since its opening in 1996. She worked on the 4th and 3rd floors, prior to taking on the position of Clinical Services Manager, in 2003.

Carol Lep
Administrative Assistant
Carol has been with Renfrew Care Centre since 2003. She brings many years of office administrative work experience to the job, plus many educational courses in accounting with BCIT and Kwantlen University College.
Carol is also an ARCT graduate in Music from the Conservatory of Music, University of Toronto. Family, especially grandchildren, play an important part in her life. She is a welcoming presence at Renfrew Care Centre.

Debbie Mitchell
Activities Coordinator
Originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Debbie graduated from her local university with her Honours BA in Psychology. To offset the cost of her education, Debbie began working in a seniors' home. While continuing her graduate studies at the university of Manitoba, Debbie realized she was meant to work with seniors.
Moving west to Vancouver, Debbie pursued this interest and graduated from the Gerontological Recreation Program at Kwantlen University College.
Debbie started at Renfrew Care Centre as a volunteer when the facility opened and is now Director of Recreation and Volunteer Services.

Jamie Navarro
Special Projects Manager
Jim is a clinician from the Philippines who just recently migrated to Canada last July, 2007. He brought with him years of clinical and administrative experience. He was initially employed as a Quality Assurance Analyst in Care Management System (CMS).
In March, 2008, he was assigned in Golden Ears Seniors Village for 3 months as Interim General Manager and then was transferred to Renfrew Care Centre as Special Projects Manager. Aside from CMS, he presently co-chairs the Occupational Health and Safety Committee and is involved in various administrative activities in the facility. |
